Trust In Me When I Say ...

I've been so woefully lacking in posts about the actual agent part of being a secret agent mom lately that I thought I could at least try to make it up by posting some of my basic beliefs about music:

  • "Kokomo" is the worst pop song ever.

  • The little-known "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man" is the best single Prince released.

  • Anyone who can avoid dancing when they hear "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" should look into serious pharmaceutical treatment.

  • There's nothing wrong with any song that can't be fixed with hand claps and a horn breakdown.

That song is little-known? I'm so out of touch with what the rest of the world knows of Prince.

    Who is Prince?

I was in a bad cover band in 10th grade that actually played that song. Out in public. For money.

"We Built This City" is the worst pop song ever.

If imports count, I'm gonna have to go with "Sexy MF" for best Prince single.

I can always avoid dancing, but I can't avoid singing along. In fact, I'll be singing "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" for the rest of the day. Thanks for that.

Doesn't "Kokomo" have hand claps and a horn breakdown?

I disagree based on the fact that they chose to perpetrate "We Built This City" under a bowdlerized version of the original, respectable band name. Whereas they actually tried to tell us that "Kokomo" was by The Beach Boys, as if we couldn't plainly see that JOHN FREAKING STAMOS was playing drums.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to go with "We Built This City." Not that "Kokomo" isn't terrible.

    Now John Stamos I know.

You people have no respect for the mouldering, Wilson Philips-mourning mind of Brian Wilson.
